"Nature Hama Council" It unites the government visions of integrating nature at the heart of the national development process

Dubai on October 1 / WAM / The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment held the second edition of the “Nature’s Councils – Government Sector Council”, which brought together a group of officials and decision makers in the government sector in the environmental field, in a strategic move aimed at consolidating the UAE’s leadership of the global environmental agenda and developmental nature.

The Council comes within the framework of preparations to host and lead the UAE for the Global Conference for the Conservation of Nature 2025 in Abu Dhabi, and the current version is a continuation of its success in the first version that was held recently in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, which succeeded in offering the ambitious UAE vision before the leaders of sustainability in the world.

The Council, which was held in Dubai yesterday, aims to make a qualitative shift in the government action mechanism, by moving from protecting nature as a separate file, to its entire integration into the heart of the comprehensive development process of the state, to become an engine for economic growth, and a basic pillar of society’s prosperity, while activating the role of youth and society as a basic partner in this march.

The council witnessed the presence of His Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary -General of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, Advisor to the International Federation for Nature Conservation in West Asia, His Excellency Ali Ahmed Ali Abu Ghazia, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, His Excellency Asila Al Mualla, Director General of the Fujairah Environment Authority, and His Excellency Ahmed Ismail Al Sayed Al Hashemi, Director The executive of the ground and marine biological diversity sector in the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, as well as representatives of a number of bodies and institutions concerned with the environment and innate life in the state, where representatives of the Municipal Department and Planning in Ajman, the General Organization for the Zoo and Aquaculture in the Ain, and the municipality of Dibba Al -Fujairah participated in it.

In her speech, Al -Dahhak stressed that the council establishes a new stage of integrated national action, and said that our meeting today in the “Nature Belities Council” goes beyond being a preparation for an international conference, to represent a turning point in our development philosophy, we move from the concept of how we protect nature from development, to how nature can be the beating heart and the main driver of the sustainable development process in various vital sectors in the state, and how we make society in a partner Formulating goals and implementing them on the ground. This is the essence of the Emirati model that we build based on our heritage to present to the world. Our vision is that the natural capital is the most valuable origin in our economy, and that the solutions of nature are the first engine of our innovations in food and water security and the promotion of the shift towards the green economy, and the various ways that contribute to enhancing the quality of life in our sustainable cities.

She added, “With the directives of our wise leadership, we have transformed nature from mere environmental commitment to a major engine of the prosperity of our economy and ways of living, and this is our vision that we present to the world. We draw policies for society, but rather we design it with it, so activating the role of our youth, members of society and our local institutions is not an option, but rather the only guarantee to turn our aspirations into a sustainable legacy, and to provide a model for the world in how to build a future in which nature and man flourish together.

The dialogue within the council was designed to be an integrated strategic journey, which started to diagnose reality and foresee the future by defining the root transformations required in policies and government work mechanisms, and identifying the main obstacles that must be overcome to enhance integration and accelerate the pace of completion.

He discussed the research of practical tools, as the second round focused on employing “nature -based solutions” as a strategic tool to face climate challenges and enhance environmental flexibility, while identifying the priorities of expanding and managing the reserve network effectively, and discussions culminated in a final tour that looked towards the future, and focused on the crystallization of “the ambitious national commitment” that the UAE will provide in the “World Conference for Conservation of Nature”, and identifying initiatives and partnerships The concrete that can be developed to translate this commitment into a sustainable legacy on the ground.

The participants agreed that the next stage requires building a flexible and innovative legislative system, which is an infrastructure for the policies that stimulate the “positive economy of nature”, and this will include the development of legislation that supports investment in natural capital, and rises from the pace of adopting ground -based solutions, and guarantees the protection of the state’s biological security, with the studied expansion in the natural reserve network to be live laboratories for environmental innovation, It was noted that the need to work to enhance “positive nature” projects, and this means setting clear mechanisms and criteria that ensure that all future development and infrastructure projects are from planning sustainable cities to modern agricultural projects, designed from the first day to be a “lever of normal capital, which is not depleted.” This principle will be an integral part of planning and financing courses for all national projects.

The Council stressed that the success of the national vision depends on the activation of participatory governance that gives local authorities, such as municipalities and environmental bodies, a pivotal role in implementation and accurate follow -up, to ensure policy translation into a tangible reality, and it has also been emphasized that the involvement of society, youth and concerned parties in the private public sector will not be merely a consulting process, but rather mechanisms will be built that ensure that they are active partners in designing, monitoring and implementing initiatives, to ensure that they are Solutions stem from reality and sustainable in the long run.
