Sharjah International Airport showcases its plans for the India Air Cargo Show 2026

Sharjah, February 27 / WAM / Sharjah Airport Authority is participating in the India Air Cargo Exhibition 2026, which is being held at the GEO International Convention Center in Mumbai during the period from 25 to 27 February, with the aim of reviewing its main plans for expansion in the air cargo sector, its integrated logistics solutions, digital transformation initiatives, and its strategy in the field of sustainability.
The event, which is considered one of the most prominent air freight and logistics services exhibitions in South Asia, brought together an elite group of major international companies and industry leaders in the logistics and supply chain sector, providing the Authority with an important platform to enhance air freight commercial connectivity between Sharjah and many markets in Asia, especially with regard to transporting perishable products, air freight for express mail, and the shipment of live animals.
The delegation of the Sharjah International Airport Authority is participating, along with Air Arabia and Sharjah Aviation Services Company, as strategic partners in the exhibition. The delegation held a number of qualitative meetings and meetings through the Sharjah Airport pavilion in the exhibition with the aim of strengthening commercial ties with one of the airport’s most important strategic markets.
The authority’s participation comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to expand its international presence and deepen its involvement in global markets, thus enhancing Sharjah Airport’s position as a leading regional air cargo hub through sustainable investment in raising capacity, adopting smart technologies, developing advanced and future-ready infrastructure, and moving forward with implementing comprehensive development programs to increase the annual passenger capacity while enhancing sustainability and integration across cargo and ground handling services in line with international best practices.
During its participation in the exhibition, the Authority discussed opportunities to conclude new partnerships with international shipping companies, in addition to strengthening existing partnerships with the aim of providing faster, more flexible and sustainable shipping solutions worldwide. Its expansion plans also reflect its response to the growing demand for integrated logistics solutions, especially sea-air freight services, which strengthens Sharjah’s position as an effective hub within global supply chains.
As part of its efforts aimed at enhancing the digital transformation process, Sharjah Airport adopts advanced systems for managing cargo operations, electronic data interchange platforms, and digital documentation procedures, which contribute to accelerating shipment handling and enhancing customs coordination. Automated handling solutions and tracking capabilities support the efficiency of operations, in addition to reducing completion time and raising the level of transparency across the entire freight supply chain.
As part of its sustainability strategy, Sharjah Airport continues to enhance energy efficiency and environmental responsibility by implementing solar energy solutions, improving energy consumption in passenger terminal facilities, adopting LED lighting systems, and developing waste management initiatives and recycling programmes.
It is noteworthy that Sharjah Airport recorded strong growth in cargo services during the past five years, with the volume of cargo handling reaching more than 204 thousand tons in 2025, compared to the results of 2024, which amounted to about 195 thousand tons. The growing annual performance reflects the strategic importance of the airport as a rapidly growing regional logistics center and embodies its disciplined and data-driven expansion approach.
Air Cargo India 2026 provides a strategic platform that gives Sharjah Airport the opportunity to enhance communication with major exporters, airlines and logistics partners, which contributes to supporting and strengthening trade relations and opening new horizons for growth.
