In response to a press question about whether the time has come to choose a woman for the position of Secretary -General of the United Nations in the next session, the president of the General Assembly said that the issue is completely in the hands of the member states of the Security Council and in the General Assembly, and she mentioned what she said in her speech at the opening of the public discussion: “For nearly eighty years, this organization has never chosen a woman for this position. One might ask: How was it not possible to find one of the four billion possible candidates? Of course, the option is the responsibility of member states.”

It also drew attention to other topics that were discussed during the activities of the high -level week of the eighty session, including non -infectious diseases, youth, and artificial intelligence.
