Abdullah bin Touq confirms the leadership of the Emirates in the space sector as a major driver for future economic development

Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, participated in the event hosted by the Embassy of the UAE in the French Republic, to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Emirati “Madari Space” company and the French “Avalanish”, which aims to enhance cooperation in the field of developing space data centers and employing advanced technology to support innovation and accelerate the pace of joint projects in the space sector.

The event was attended by Fahd Saeed Al -Raqbani, the country’s ambassador to the French Republic, Dr. Sherif Al -Rumaithi, CEO of “Media Space”, and a group of government officials and representatives of the private sector working in the space industries and academic institutions in both the Emirates and France.

In this context, Abdullah bin Touq stressed that the UAE, thanks to the vision and support of its wise leadership, continues to consolidate its global position as a major shareholder in developing the space economy and promoting innovation and research related to economic and space investment activities, indicating that the partnership between the UAE and the French Republic in the space sector is a solid and strategic partnership and witnesses continuous and long cooperation between the agencies and the institutions concerned in The two countries, where the two sides are working to expand their common ambitions in space technology, enhance the ability to face climate change challenges, monitor Earth, and develop sovereign space capabilities.

Bin Touq added: “The space sector represents a major driver for development within the UAE’s vision for the future, where the state intends to develop and create (the economic gathering of space), within the framework of the national policy of economic gatherings, in a way that enhances its global competitiveness, attracting specific investments and supporting innovation in this field, and thus establishing the UAE’s position as a global center for the space economy in the region and the world.”

He stressed the importance of international partnerships within the UAE’s strategy to develop the space economy, and that working to launch the economic gathering of space opens wide opportunities to develop cooperation and transfer knowledge and achieve mutual benefits with all international partners, noting that the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the “Tribar Space” and “Avalas” represents a valuable opportunity to expand the partnership and open new horizons for cooperation with France in this future sector.

During his speech, he praised the efforts of the “Media Space” company to spread the spirit of innovation in the new generation of Emirati entrepreneurs, and he explained that the project that the company is working on reflects the ability of national competencies to create advanced solutions, and embodies the meeting of technology investment in serving the future of the space economy.
