Sharjah and Qatari rooms discuss mechanisms for enhancing economic partnerships and empowering the private sector

Sharjah, October 2/ WAM/ The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed with a delegation from the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ways to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of sectoral work groups and business councils, and mechanisms to activate their role in promoting international economic relations, in a way that serves common economic interests and supports the private sector’s partnership relations in the two countries.

This came during a meeting of His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Chamber’s headquarters, Hamad Ali Muaqal Al -Marri, Director of the Department of Committees and Business Councils in the Qatar Chamber and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Fatima Khalifa, the close director of the International Relations Department at the Chamber.

The meeting discussed the importance of exchanging institutional experiences and applying best practices in managing councils and sectoral work groups, in a way that contributes to developing the business environment and raising the efficiency of services provided to employees of the Chambers of Commerce.

After the meeting, the Sharjah Chamber held a working meeting with the Qatari side, during which it reviewed the initiatives and programs that it implemented in the framework of empowering the private sector, enhancing its competitiveness, in addition to the pivotal role played by the sectoral working groups in consolidating relations between the various economic sectors, encouraging investment partnerships, and creating a supportive environment for business growth in Sharjah.

During the meeting, the mechanisms of joint cooperation and exchange of experiences and information were also discussed between work groups and business councils on both sides, and joint programs aimed at supporting members of the two rooms and enhancing economic and investment cooperation.

His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi praised the depth of the historical ties between the two brotherly countries and the durability of bilateral and growing relations in many fields, especially at the economic and commercial levels, where the UAE is the first trade partner in the Gulf and Arab and the eighth globally for the State of Qatar, where the UAE accounts for 52% of Qatar’s Gulf trade, and the UAE’s foreign trade is recorded with the State of Qatar, during 2023, a significant growth rate 18.3%, to contact 37 billion dirhams, compared to 2022, stressing the Sharjah Chamber’s keenness to enhance this positive momentum in bilateral relations through the development of cooperation with the Qatar Chamber in the areas of exchanging experiences and developing qualitative initiatives that support the business environment, and contribute to stimulating the growth of vital sectors, and enabling the private sector to play its role as a major partner in sustainable economic development.

He explained that the meeting constituted an important opportunity to exchange visions on ways to develop a business business system and sectoral work groups, in a way that contributes to supporting the private sector and developing local and international commercial partnerships and attracting specific investments, expressing his hope to intensify and exchange visits between the Sharjah Chamber and Emirati businessmen and their counterparts in the State of Qatar, to document economic cooperation relations and invest possible investment opportunities to serve the economy of the two brotherly countries.

For his part, the Qatari delegation stressed that this meeting comes within the framework of the joint keenness to enhance cooperation between the two rooms, and to expand the prospects for partnership between the business community in the two countries, explaining that the exchange of experiences and experiences in the field of managing sectoral work groups and business councils is an important step towards building an integrated work system that supports economic development and keeps pace with the aspirations of the private sector.

He stressed the importance of joint work to develop practical programs and initiatives that contribute to facilitating trade and investment exchange, and opens new areas of cooperation between entrepreneurs and investors in the two countries.
