The World Bank raises its expectations for the growth of the Middle East region in 2025

Washington, October 7/ WAM/ The World Bank raised its expectations to grow in the region that includes the Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan for the year 2025, but it reduced it next year, and attributed the amendment of expectations to global economic challenges and political turmoil.

The Washington -based bank said it is now expected to be the average growth of GDP in the economies of the Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan 2.8 % this year, increasing the growth expectations that it published last April at 2.6 %.

He attributed this to the improvement of economic activity in the Gulf countries after the fastest gradual cancellation expected to oil production discounts, as well as the growth of the non -oil sector.

The report revealed that the oil exporting countries are expected to face a remarkable slowdown as a result of the disturbances caused by conflicts and discounts in oil production.

As for Iran’s economy, it is expected to record 1.7 % this year, followed by a larger contraction of 2.8 % in the next year, in a major shift from the expectations of the World Bank last April, which suggested the growth of the Iranian economy by 0.7 % during 2026.
