Hurricane Priscilla hits Mexico

A severe hurricane struck western Mexico with heavy rains, winds and strong waves in coastal areas and the Baja Peninsula.
The Miami-based National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning for Baja, extending from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Lazaro.
Hurricane Priscilla was rotating off the coast of Mexico, with maximum wind speeds of 140 kilometers per hour. The day before yesterday evening, the authorities in Baja announced the cancellation of classes in all educational centers starting yesterday, in Los Cabos and La Paz, as a precautionary measure. It also established dozens of shelters in Los Cabos to shelter residents of at-risk areas.
According to meteorology, parts of southwestern Mexico witnessed large amounts of rain until yesterday, bringing the risk of flash floods to the states of Michoacan and Colima. The Meteorological Authority reported that life-threatening waves and rip currents are likely to occur.
