"UAE delegation for balanced development" Exploring cooperation with Japanese institutions

Abu Dhabi, 9 October / WAM / The Emirates Council for Balanced Development discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation with a group of Japanese government institutions and private sector companies concerned with developing development work in a sustainable manner and in accordance with the best international practices and experiences in various societal, economic, cultural and tourism fields.

During a visit to Japan, the Council delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with the aim of exploring opportunities for joint cooperation and exchanging institutional experiences, in addition to conducting field visits in Japanese villages to learn more about successful models and pioneering experiences in implementing community programs for different age groups, which aim to enhance community cohesion and family bonding among all components of society.

The Council delegation visited the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, which concludes its activities on October 13th, and embodies the depth of national identity, the UAE’s established principles and vision, and its ambitions for the future, in a way that enhances the process of sustainable development and prosperity.

He also visited the Japanese pavilion and a number of Gulf pavilions and was briefed on the inspiring global experiences provided by the pavilions of the countries participating in the exhibition to achieve sustainable development goals in addition to enhancing economic opportunities and enriching tourism projects by focusing on the importance of harnessing advanced technology and smart applications in the prosperity and development of societies and achieving the aspirations of peoples in various vital sectors of life.

Within the framework of the visit, the Council discussed prospects for cooperation and knowledge exchange with Tokushima Prefecture and Irodori Company in the field of developing small and medium-sized rural enterprises and promoting sustainable practices and village revitalization strategies.

The delegation was briefed on the GovTech Tokyo digital initiative of the Tokyo government, which aims to empower residents and government employees through innovation, in addition to visiting the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and learning about Japan’s strategies and models for reviving tourism in rural areas, including infrastructure, legislative support, and community engagement tools.

The delegation also discussed strengthening cooperation with the Social Innovation and Investment Foundation in Japan and visited the Edo Architectural Museum on the outskirts of Tokyo, which preserves historical buildings from the Edo period until modern times and which provides a deep understanding of Japanese cultural heritage and the development of architecture over time.
