The Mudon World Triathlon Championship – Abu Dhabi 2026 will be held on time, with a change in the competition categories

ABU DHABI, 7 MARCH / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the International Triathlon Federation announced the holding of the Mudon World Triathlon Championship – Abu Dhabi 2026, sponsored by “TAQA”, on the scheduled date on the 28th and 29th of this March, with an amendment to the participating competition categories.

All community age group races approved by the International Federation will continue according to the previously announced schedule on Al Hudayriat Island.

According to the amendment, it was decided to postpone the individual elite races and the elite mixed relay races to a date that will be announced later.

The organizers called on athletes of different age groups and triathlon fans to continue their preparations and participate in the community races that will be held as scheduled.

The 2026 season of the World Triathlon Championship Series is expected to start from the second round, which will be held in Samarkand on April 26.

According to the International Federation’s regulations, if the Abu Dhabi Championship is rescheduled before the Grand Final, five rounds in addition to the final will be counted toward the season’s total points. However, if the tournament is held after the final, only four rounds will be counted in addition to the final.

Athletes on the start lists for the Abu Dhabi Championship are also entitled, if they are able and willing, to participate in other tournaments within the International Triathlon Union calendar during the period from March 10 to April 15, which precedes the start of the first rounds of the 2026 World Triathlon Championship series in Samarkand.

In the event of an increase in demand for participation due to the modification of the Abu Dhabi Championship program, the possibility of increasing the number of participants in these tournaments will be studied in coordination with the local organizing committees.
