Dubai World opens its first representative office in Scandinavia

Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers operating under the Dubai Chambers umbrella, opened its first representative office in Scandinavia in the city of Stockholm, Sweden, with the aim of strengthening ties between the business communities in Dubai and Sweden, and enhancing bilateral trade and investment partnerships.

The Chamber reported, in a statement yesterday, that the office was opened in the presence of the Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden, Benjamin Dossa, the UAE Ambassador to Sweden, Ghasaq Yousef Abdullah Shaheen, and the Executive Vice President of International Relations at the Dubai Chambers, Salem Al Shamsi.

The new office is part of Dubai International Chamber’s efforts to achieve the goals of the Dubai Global Initiative, which aims to launch 50 international representative offices for the Chamber by 2030. This initiative aims to enhance Dubai’s role as a leading global business centre, attract foreign direct investment to the emirate, and support the expansion of Dubai companies in 30 priority markets around the world.

Director General of Dubai Chambers, Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, said: “The opening of the representative office in Sweden represents an important step towards strengthening strategic partnerships between Dubai and international markets, and building more trade and investment opportunities for business communities.”

He added: “The new office will focus on supporting the attraction of Swedish companies to Dubai and introducing the opportunities that the emirate abounds in all sectors.”

The opening of the new office came in light of the growing bilateral trade movement, as the value of non-oil trade between Dubai and Sweden during the year 2024 reached about 3.9 billion dirhams, with an annual growth of 5.3%. In an indication of the increasing interest of Swedish companies in doing business in Dubai, the number of active companies from Sweden registered as members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce rose to 940 companies by the end of the first half of 2025, with 127 new Swedish companies joining within six months.

The Dubai International Chamber network of offices spread around the world plays a pivotal role in attracting international companies, investments and talents to Dubai. This network extends across five continents, as it is strategic platforms for promoting Dubai as a preferred destination for business, providing support in the market for companies wishing to expand towards the emirate, and contributing to establishing influential partnerships that enhance Dubai’s position as a global center for trade and investment.
