المملكة: With the participation of 57 countries, Saudi Arabia hosts the largest Islamic gathering to discuss water security


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting the fifth session of the Conference of Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation responsible for Water, which will be held under the slogan “From Vision to Impact” in Jeddah Governorate, during the period from 20 to 22 October this year.

The high-level event, which is chaired by the Kingdom, brings together a number of ministers, experts and specialists in water affairs from member states, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and unifying efforts to confront the common water challenges facing the Islamic world.

It will precede Official sessions: Intensive preparatory meetings on October 20 and 21, to finalize the agenda and discuss pressing issues in preparation for presenting them at the Ministerial Conference.

Strengthening Water Security

The conference seeks to achieve a set of strategic goals, foremost of which is building effective partnerships between member states and the organization’s bodies, and exploring opportunities to enable modern technologies and digital transformation to support sustainable management. For water resources.

It also aims to launch joint initiatives and projects, and stimulate investment by exploring innovative and sustainable financing mechanisms, ensuring the strengthening of Water security in Islamic countries.

The Kingdom’s presidency and hosting of this conference reflects the great interest it gives to the water sector, which is translated through its ambitious national strategies aimed at achieving water security, supporting environmental sustainability, and raising the efficiency of resource management.
