The growth in technology is matched by an escalation in cyber threats, whose cost will exceed $20 trillion globally by 2030.

Ohoud bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, confirmed that the UAE is continuing to consolidate its position as a global platform for creating the future, noting that the annual meetings of the Global Future Councils witness this year the participation of more than 800 experts, officials and decision-makers from various parts of the world, to discuss the major transformations the world is witnessing and accelerate readiness for a more sustainable and secure future.
Al Roumi said, during her speech at the opening of the annual meetings of the Global Future and Cybersecurity Councils in Dubai 2025, that there are three pivotal transformations that shape the future: the first of which is the acceleration of the new digital wave, as the digital economy is expected to constitute 70% of the new value added during the next decade.
Strategic priority
She stated that artificial intelligence represents a strategic priority for the UAE and a global development force that may add $7 trillion to the global gross domestic product by 2030, calling for the adoption of ethical governance and humane standards to ensure that societies benefit from technology in a balanced and safe manner.
Growing technology
She pointed out that the growth of technology is matched by an escalation in cyber threats, the cost of which may exceed $20 trillion globally by 2030, making flexibility, trust, and a secure digital infrastructure among the basic pillars of future prosperity.
Future generations
Al-Roumi added that future generations differ in their priorities and aspirations, as climate awareness, environmental responsibility, and social justice constitute pivotal issues for more than 70% of young people around the world, stressing that designing the future cannot be done in isolation from these generations, but rather by involving them in decision-making.
Pioneering experience
She explained that the UAE government has pioneering experience in this field, through establishing a Ministry of Youth and launching specialized youth councils that enable young people to effectively contribute to formulating future policies and initiatives.
The world does not change
Al Roumi stressed that the world today does not change in steps but in leaps, stressing that “the UAE represents a living example that speed serves the goal when led by vision, partnership and hope,” welcoming the participants in the new session of the Global Future Councils and wishing them success in their work.
fork
She explained that humanity stands today at a critical crossroads, with the acceleration of scientific and technological transformations and the increase of dual crises, noting that the world is going through an unprecedented global crisis of trust, as levels of trust in institutions have declined to their lowest levels since they began to be measured globally, which requires rethinking traditional development models and designing a more developed and equitable future for humanity.
She stressed: “Hosting this global event reflects the UAE leadership’s passion for creating the future, and its belief in the importance of global dialogue on issues affecting human and economic development, in light of a world witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in the pace of interconnected changes and challenges.”
