In response to what was published in the “Sikaik” corner, regarding an appeal from users of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to find radical solutions to the problem of recurring traffic congestion, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai stated that it pays great attention to developing road and mass transportation networks, both within Dubai and at the level of connectivity with other emirates. In this context, traffic coming from Sharjah is witnessing a high demand estimated at about 1.2 million vehicles per day, which is accommodated across five main axes with a total of 25 lanes within Dubai. The Authority confirmed that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road is one of the most important of these axes, as it includes eight lanes in Dubai, representing about 32% of the total lanes when entering the emirate from this direction. Mass transit lines are also currently available, including buses and marine transport services, providing various alternatives for transportation between the two emirates, pointing out that current and future plans include implementing several strategic projects to expand and develop the axes parallel and supportive of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The Authority also continues to implement studies and plans aimed at raising Efficiency of the road network, and enhancing mass transportation services between Dubai and Sharjah, in continuous coordination with the relevant authorities.

Offers

Readers suggested that hotels and resorts, especially those that include parks and games for children, offer more attractive offers for families during the summer vacation, at reduced prices instead of those offered at high prices, noting that this step contributes to encouraging domestic tourism.

Positions

Residents of the Al Garhoud residential complex in Dubai complained about the imposition of parking fees for visitors about two months ago, as the visitor is given only one free hour per day before high fees are charged, stressing that this constitutes a burden on visitors and families, calling on the operating company to reconsider the current system, and increase the free parking period for visitors, in proportion to the nature of the residential complex and the needs of the residents.
