Abu Dhabi Customs and Ras Al Khaimah enhance strategic integration and cooperation

Dubai, October 16 / WAM / Abu Dhabi Customs and Ras Al Khaimah Customs signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance integration and strategic cooperation, in line with the country’s directions towards integrating customs work at the federal and local levels.

His Excellency Ahmed Jassim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, witnessed the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, within the Abu Dhabi government pavilion at GITEX Global 2025, which was signed by His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and His Excellency Dr. Rashid Rashid Al Mahrezi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs.

The memorandum reflects the keenness of both sides to develop the customs compliance system and raise the efficiency of operations by adopting the best operational practices, which contributes to achieving national goals and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the customs field regionally and globally.

It aims to support comprehensive integration, intensify coordination, and exchange information, knowledge, and experiences, in addition to developing human competencies, consolidating digital transformation, and benefiting from the application of modern systems and artificial intelligence techniques in managing operations, especially the systems applied in Abu Dhabi Customs, such as the “Rumah” smart system that relies on artificial intelligence to determine the nature of shipments before they reach the customs ports and the data center. And Dhafra’s advanced future reports on data governance and management supported by artificial intelligence algorithms, in addition to reviewing best practices in the field of innovation, automation, and warehouse management.

His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri said that this partnership comes within efforts to enhance effective coordination between the customs authorities in the country, in line with the vision of the wise leadership towards building an integrated and advanced customs system, indicating Abu Dhabi Customs’ keenness to consolidate strategic relations and expand areas of cooperation at the local and federal levels, and to harness all of its technical and human capabilities and expertise, in a way that supports achieving the country’s goals. Economic development and development of an institutional work environment built on innovation and digital transformation.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Rashid Rashid Al Mahrezi said that this cooperation represents the beginning of a new phase of sustainable partnerships that support efforts to develop the customs work system, as we look forward to achieving the highest levels of integration and exchange of experiences in various aspects, especially in the technical and operational fields, digital transformation, and reliance on advanced technology, which contributes to enhancing the level of customs performance and supporting the UAE’s competitiveness in global indicators.
