Dubai, 19 October / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the tenth session of the “Emirati Media Forum” will be held on October 28, organized by the “Dubai Press Club” at the “Museum of the Future” in Dubai, with the participation of an elite group of leaders of Emirati media institutions, editors-in-chief of local newspapers, senior writers, opinion makers, and those in charge of media work in the country, in addition to To a group of Emirati content makers and influencers on various digital platforms and social media.
The forum continues its mission, which it has carried over the course of a full decade, in discussing the most prominent topics related to the media scene in the UAE, the achievements that distinguish it, and the challenges it may face, with the aim of reaching consensus formulas on the steps required to be taken in order to advance the UAE media and raise its competitiveness to global reach, in keeping with the high status that the UAE enjoys at the regional and international levels.
The forum reviews a number of important topics, especially with regard to the impact of the Emirati media on the current conditions in the region and the world, and the diversity of the social and cultural fabric in the Emirates. The event also discusses the role of the national media in confronting rumors and misleading news, building confidence, and empowering youth and content makers to convey a realistic picture of the bright face of the Emirates, publicizing its achievements and conveying its message to the world in an effective and influential manner. The discussion also addresses To review the extent to which the national media keeps pace with the digital transformation process, and employ modern tools to formulate more widespread and influential content.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, confirmed that the forum has represented, since its inception, a comprehensive national platform to discuss issues affecting the essence of the Emirati media and its pivotal role in supporting the development process.
Her Excellency said: “Today, more than ever, we need a media characterized by conscious boldness and creative innovation… a media that has the ability to read regional and international changes and the tools that enable it to keep pace with them and deal with their repercussions quickly and efficiently… The forum represents an opportunity to discover ways through which the role of the national media can be affirmed in protecting gains, supporting development efforts in various fields, and conveying a message.” The UAE to the world with objectivity and professionalism… Over a decade, the forum has been a mirror of the sector’s challenges and ambitions, and today we begin a new decade of responsible discussion that confronts difficult questions with practical ideas and future visions.”
She added: “The tenth session of the Emirati Media Forum is not just a new number. Rather, it is a continuation of an experience that has matured and become part of the national media movement. Today, we seek to write a new chapter in the story of an advanced media that draws its inspiration from the spirit of the Emirates and the insistence of its wise leadership on leadership. The forum is a translation of the conviction that the power of the word is a major pillar of development, and that the Emirati media is capable of keeping pace with every transformation with awareness and responsibility, and that Discussion is the window through which we look to the future, and every meeting is an opportunity to renew ideas and expand cooperation horizons.”
For her part, Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, said: “Over the course of ten years, the forum has succeeded in bringing together those in charge of the local media sector in the UAE, and has become the largest platform of its kind for a high-level professional discussion that includes Emirati media leaders and those in charge of various local media sectors, to review the state of the sector and topics related to its future development, and to monitor challenges and the best ways to overcome them.”
She added: “The UAE continues its journey with huge achievements and great ambitions amidst rapid regional and global changes at all levels. Since its launch in 2013, the Forum has formed a major platform for national media dialogue, contributing to formulating common visions between Emirati media institutions, and laying professional foundations that enhance the UAE’s prestigious position in the Arab world and globally. The tenth session of the forum continues to consolidate this approach by providing a space for constructive dialogue between the various components of the media scene, with the participation of an elite group of specialized speakers in various fields of media work.
