Dubai Municipality accredits engineering consulting offices to provide self-licensing for citizens’ villas in easy and timely steps

Dubai Municipality announced the accreditation of a number of engineering consulting offices to provide a self-licensing service for the construction of villas for citizens, with the aim of raising the efficiency of licensing procedures for private residential villas, and simplifying and accelerating the steps for issuing a building permit directly from the offices without the need for prior verification by municipal engineers, thus contributing to facilitating the journey of building a home, and reducing time and effort for citizens.
Accredited engineering offices have demonstrated advanced levels of commitment to applicable engineering standards and requirements. The list of approved offices to provide this service to citizens will also be expanded in the future, providing greater options and enhancing the quality of service provided to customers.
This step comes within the efforts of Dubai Municipality to provide facilities and develop integrated housing solutions for citizen families, and to enhance the flexibility of residential procedures and services, in a way that reduces costs, effort and time, and fulfills citizens’ requirements for obtaining suitable housing of high quality.

Easy steps
Dubai Municipality has developed a new mechanism that enables citizens to obtain a self-license to build residential villas, through easy steps that begin with creating the application and ensuring its conformity with the Dubai Building Code and planning requirements by the consultant office approved by Dubai Municipality, then entering it into the building platform in Dubai to issue the licence, all the way to appointing the contractor by the approved consultant and initiating the implementation of the project.
In addition, the municipality has identified the most important controls and conditions that must be adhered to when issuing a self-license to build villas, with the necessity of adhering to the building requirements of the Dubai Building Code, in terms of structural designs and economic cost for the benefit of the owner, taking into account the safety of construction, and not exaggerating the structural design or increasing the total cost. Adherence to planning requirements, including setbacks, uses, heights, and parking lots.
