Gold falls below $4,000

New York, October 27 / WAM / Gold prices fell below $4,000 per ounce today, as traders await the Federal Reserve (US central bank) meeting on monetary policy this week.

Gold in spot transactions fell 2.9 percent to $3,990.89 an ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery fell 3.2 percent to $4,005.20 an ounce.
