The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that the "BRICS" It seeks to promote a positive agenda in international affairs and performs its work calmly and consistently, without being in confrontation with any party.
Zakharova said – in an interview with TASS agency: Russian, on the sidelines of the “Made in Russia” forum – “The emotional reactions coming from both sides of the Atlantic towards the unity of the BRICS group are understandable, as they express the radical and irreversible changes in the global system,” as she described it.
She added: “It is important to understand that BRICS does not challenge anyone, but rather presents a positive model.” Non-confrontational international cooperation is based on the principle of sovereign equality and balance of interests, and the group is working steadily and calmly in this direction regardless of the current political circumstance.
She also explained that the international community today is witnessing a shift from neoliberal and neocolonial practices to an objectively multipolar reality, considering that the increase in global interest in BRICS is natural because it has become “A driver for these radical transformations.”
She stressed that Moscow and its partners are determined to expand and deepen cooperation within the group in a way that creates favorable conditions for progressive development in their countries.
It is worth noting that the BRICS group was established in 2006 and initially included Brazil, Russia, India and China, then South Africa joined in the year 2011.
In 2024, Egypt, Iran, the Emirates, and Ethiopia became full members, while Indonesia joined in 2025.
