Launching a parcel delivery service using “drones” in Nad Al Sheba

Yesterday, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, and Kita Drone, opened a new route for delivering parcels using drones in the Nad Al Sheba area. These drones will be able to deliver food orders from the “Avenue Mall” restaurants and cafes in Nad Al Sheba to the residents of the area via the delivery point, which is located in the Nad Al Sheba Grand Mosque.
The Director General of the Authority, Mohammed Abdullah Linjawi, officially launched the route with the first order delivered via drone in the Nad Al Sheba area, in the presence of a number of senior officials from government agencies and strategic partners in Dubai.
Linjawi said: “This initiative reflects Dubai’s leadership in adopting innovation that contributes to improving the quality of daily life, as the (Kita Drone) company was at the forefront of developing this technology, and we look forward to delivering orders via (drones) becoming a daily reality in various parts of the emirate.”
He added: “By enabling smart delivery corridors, we are contributing to building a sustainable, technology-based future in Dubai.”
For his part, Director General of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, said, “Choosing Nad Al Sheba Grand Mosque as the starting point for the connectivity project reflects an advanced vision to include the role of mosques in sustainable community development, and expresses their status as vital facilities that serve people and keep pace with the needs of the times.”
He stressed “the department’s permanent commitment to supporting innovative national initiatives in a way that contributes to achieving the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a global model for balanced development that combines authenticity and innovation.”
In turn, the General Manager of Kita Drone Company, Junwei Yang, said: “This achievement represents the beginning of our commercial operations and the expansion of the network of drone delivery paths in various regions in Dubai,” noting that “this path not only symbolizes technological progress, but also embodies Dubai’s vision towards improving cities to be smarter, faster and more sustainable.”
