Hamdan bin Mohammed witnesses the graduation of members of the second cycle of the Leadership and Design Program

DUBAI, 28th October, 2018 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, witnessed the graduation of members of the second session of the “Leadership and Design Programme,” organized by the Dubai Future Foundation, with the aim of continuing to consolidate the culture of innovation and creative design in Dubai, and empowering national talents with the most important skills and tools of design thinking.
His Highness stressed that Dubai believes in the capabilities of its youth to actively contribute to designing the future of various key sectors and to think in an innovative, unconventional way in designing qualitative solutions, services and future products.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “Preparing national competencies will remain one of the most important strategic priorities that we are betting on to design the future of vital sectors that concern society and the economy, and we want Dubai to be the most innovative and creative in the world and in all fields.”
His Highness added: “Design thinking is an innovative and important concept in the process of creating the future, and we expect the participants in the Leadership and Design Program to make outstanding contributions in supporting their teams and destinations and enhancing their readiness for the future by identifying the best new and promising future opportunities, and employing the proactive planning skills they have acquired in various sectors to design projects and services that focus on serving people first and foremost.”
In attendance alongside His Highness were His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Deputy Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, His Excellency Helal Al Marri, Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, and His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation. The second session of the Leadership and Design Program included 38 members from the government and private sectors in the UAE who participated over a period of 14 weeks in interactive workshops, field trips inside and outside the country, and theoretical and practical lectures on the concept of design thinking and enhancing the leadership spirit, during which they were introduced to unique experiences based on creativity and systematic thinking aimed at making a positive change in people’s lives.
The program also focused on introducing participants to various design thinking tools and skills and how to optimally employ them in implementing future plans and strategies.
The program witnessed the participation of an elite group of experts and specialists in the field of leadership and design thinking, who supervised the cooperation of the participants in designing future scenarios for various sectors, and providing knowledge and practical experiences that they can employ to develop institutional performance in a way that reflects positively on the quality of life of community members.
The program included multiple training stages that focused on understanding societal challenges, designing prototypes, and testing innovative solutions, leading to presenting final projects during which participants presented practical, implementable solutions in various fields such as government services, quality of life, empowering people of determination, environment, and education.
The Leadership and Design Program focuses mainly on building national capabilities and introducing them to the importance of adopting design thinking, and enabling participants to think in new and innovative ways to effectively lead their teams and organizations, lead the transformation towards the future in unconventional ways, and transform challenges into opportunities for growth and developing performance at all levels.
