Dubai Roads reviews its readiness to host "International Union of Public Transport Summit" Next April

Dubai, October 29 / WAM / The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reviewed its readiness to host the 2026 International Public Transport Union Summit from April 21 to 23.

This came during a press conference held today in the presence of His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, a number of representatives of government agencies and departments and the private sector, and His Excellency Mohammed Mazghani, Secretary-General of the International Federation of Public Transport.

Al Tayer stressed that Dubai’s hosting of the summit is the culmination of its efforts to shape the future of mobility and develop a sustainable, smart, human-centered mass transportation system, describing the public transportation and mass transportation system in the emirate as the backbone of the movement of residents and visitors in the city.

He praised the long strategic partnership with the International Federation of Public Transport, stressing that the summit will be a strategic platform for global dialogue and cooperation, contributing to the formulation of policies, innovations and partnerships that will shape the features of the next generation of urban mobility systems.

For her part, Renee Amilcar, President of the International Federation of Public Transport, said that when the summit is held in Dubai next April, this will be the first edition to be held in the UAE in 15 years, and Dubai will be the first city outside the European continent to host it in its new annual format.

Meanwhile, a discussion session was held in which His Excellency Mohammed Mezghani, Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, Executive Director of the Public Transport Corporation at the Roads and Transport Authority, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the World Public Transport Union Summit, Mona Al-Osaimi, Executive Director of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority, and Lindsay Barr, Senior Director of Events and Academic Services Department at the World Public Transport Union, participated.

Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan said in a statement to WAM that the summit, which is considered one of the most prominent global events in the field of public transport, will attract more than 8,000 participants from more than 100 countries, and includes organizing more than 70 specialized discussion sessions with the participation of about 300 international experts to discuss the latest innovative solutions in the field of public transport and promoting sustainable mobility.

He pointed out that the summit will include an accompanying exhibition that will include more than 300 exhibitors from various countries around the world to showcase the latest innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, digital tickets, smart transportation solutions, and sustainable mobility systems, reflecting the rapid development in the sector at the global level.

For his part, Muhammad Mazani stressed that the summit gains its distinction from its inclusion of all types of public transportation in one event, including buses, trains, marine transportation, taxi services, on-demand transportation, and vehicle sharing.
