"UAE Essay Award" Topic of discussion in "Al Owais Cultural"
Dubai, October 30 / WAM / The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation organized a symposium entitled “A View of the Emirati Essay Award” yesterday evening, with the participation of writer and journalist Ali Obaid Al Hameli and Dr. Maryam Al Hashemi, and moderated by writer Jamal Al Shehhi, in the presence of an elite group of writers, thinkers and intellectuals from inside and outside the country.
The symposium witnessed the presence of the writer Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh, members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, His Excellency Bilal Al-Badour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Culture and Science Symposium, Dr. Salah Al-Qassim, Advisor to the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dr. Abdul Khaleq Abdullah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Emirati Essay Award, and Dr. Ali Abdullah Musa, Secretary-General of the International Council for the Arabic Language.
During his intervention, Ali Obaid Al Hameli reviewed the development of the Emirati article, which was linked to the emergence of the local press from its beginnings.
For her part, Dr. Maryam Al-Hashemi discussed the development of the art of the essay in the Arab and Western civilizations, noting that the essay represents a mirror of society and a means of intellectual and cultural expression.
