"Muslim sages"Cultural diversity enhances dialogue and understanding between peoples


Abu Dhabi, May 21 / WAM / The Muslim Council of Elders affirmed that cultural diversity represents a human and cultural richness that contributes to enhancing understanding and rapprochement between peoples, and building more stable and tolerant societies capable of confronting hate speech, intolerance, and isolationism.
The Council said in a statement on the occasion of the International Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, which falls on May 21 of each year, that the world today is in dire need of consolidating a culture of dialogue and respect for cultural, religious and civilizational particularities, as they are a fundamental foundation for achieving peace and promoting the values of coexistence and human brotherhood, noting that diversity should not be a cause of conflict or division, but rather an opportunity for acquaintance, cooperation and the exchange of experiences and knowledge in a way that serves all of humanity.
He explained that the true Islamic religion and all divine laws call for respecting human and cultural diversity, and consolidating the values of acquaintance, cooperation and compassion among people, stressing that protecting cultural diversity and preserving national and civilizational identities is a shared responsibility that requires the solidarity of religious, educational, cultural and media institutions. To confront attempts to spread hatred, racism, and exclusion, and to promote an inclusive humanitarian discourse based on mutual respect and coexistence.
