Dubai continues to consolidate its position as a global city leader in innovation, readiness and sustainability

Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, the Dubai Resilience Center yesterday signed three strategic agreements in the Emirates Towers with: the National Center of Meteorology, the Department of Land and Property in Dubai, and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, in a step that strengthens Dubai’s position as one of the most prepared and sustainable cities in the world in the face of crises and emergencies.
The agreements aim to unify institutional efforts and develop an integrated system of flexibility and response, by enhancing cooperation in the areas of emergency preparedness, building national capabilities, exchanging data and information, and conducting joint studies and research, in a way that supports decision-making and ensures high readiness and a rapid and coordinated response in various circumstances at the field and strategic levels.
His Highness stressed that the strategic partnerships that were signed yesterday embody the spirit of joint work between local, federal and academic institutions, and are a true translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, for Dubai to always be in a position of leadership and readiness, a global role model in the ability to transform challenges into opportunities, and create a safer and more prosperous future for future generations.
His Highness said: “Dubai’s preparedness is not the result of the moment, but rather the result of a proactive vision of our wise leadership, which made flexibility and sustainability an institutional approach rooted in various sectors.. The development we are witnessing today in the preparedness system reflects the extent of maturity that Dubai has reached in managing emergencies and crises, thanks to advance planning, integration between institutions, and investment in national competencies capable of responding quickly and efficiently in various circumstances.”
His Highness added: “Flexibility in its comprehensive concept is not limited to dealing with crises, but rather extends to the ability to anticipate the future, adapt to global changes, and continue the continuous development of systems and plans, in a way that ensures the sustainability of development and the protection of national gains… Dubai, with its proactive vision and ability to transform challenges into opportunities, continues to consolidate its position as a global leader in innovation, readiness and sustainability.”
The agreement signed with the Dubai Land Department stipulates cooperation in developing flexibility standards for the real estate sector, and enhancing operational readiness by linking digital systems and exchanging data related to risks and sustainable urban planning.
While the agreement with the National Center of Meteorology focuses on developing early warning mechanisms, analyzing weather and climate risks, exchanging technical expertise and data to support rapid response operations, and knowledge-based decision-making.
Regarding the agreement signed with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, it stipulates the launch of the “Resilience Diploma,” and the design of specialized training and academic programs in crisis management, artificial intelligence, and climate change, in addition to joint research initiatives to support the future policies of Dubai and the Emirates.
It is worth noting that the Dubai Resilience Center will continue to expand its network of strategic partnerships with government, academic and private institutions, thus enhancing Dubai’s global position as a pioneering city in building resilient and sustainable systems capable of efficiently confronting crises and preparing for a safer and more stable future.
The signing of the agreements was attended by the Director General of the Dubai Land Department, Omar Bushahab, the Director General of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandoos, the President of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Dr. Mansour Al Awar, and the Executive Director of the Dubai Resilience Center, the expert Ahmed Ateeq Bourguiba.
