The UAE responds urgently to provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Melissa

The UAE responded urgently through the Emirates International Aid Agency in coordination with the Caribbean Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) To deliver urgent relief aid of basic foodstuffs and necessary shelter supplies to those affected by “Hurricane Melissa” that struck Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba, and to provide the necessary support to the infrastructure sector that witnessed severe damage, with the aim of ensuring rapid early recovery and achieving stability.
The urgent UAE response comes based on the UAE’s humanitarian message to quickly extend a helping hand and stand with the afflicted and help the needy, the sick and those injured as a result of natural disasters, crises, wars and conflicts in various parts of the world, and an embodiment of the moral and international responsibility that the state assumes in solidarity with the affected countries and communities in such critical situations and emergency circumstances.
In this context, Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, President of the Emirates International Aid Agency, stressed the UAE’s commitment to its international humanitarian responsibilities by responding immediately to crises, disasters and emergencies and assisting affected communities and peoples by providing all support in its various forms to achieve early recovery and ensuring access to basic needs of food, medicine, clothing and shelter.
He pointed out that the UAE is a pioneer in implementing urgent relief and humanitarian response programs as a result of natural, environmental or health disasters or what results from wars, conflicts and armed conflicts, pointing out that the UAE Agency for International Aid provides the basic needs of relief materials and shelter supplies and supports the infrastructure sector in coordination with international organizations, especially the Caribbean Emergency Management Agency, to ensure speedy recovery and mitigate the effects of Hurricane Melissa on the peoples in Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba.
