After she denied the news… Shahad Al-Shammari officially announces her separation

Just days after she denied the rumors in a television interview, the Iraqi poet and media personality, Shahad Al-Shammari, announced yesterday evening her official separation from her husband, Fahd, thus ending six years of marriage, in a move she described as taking place “with all calm and understanding.”

During her appearance a few days ago on the “ET Arabic” program, Shahad had completely denied the circulating divorce news, confirming at the time that the relationship was going through disagreements but had not reached separation. She said in that interview: “We are a close-knit family and we have never had a problem in front of the public. Some people see our lives as ideal, and they are not ideal, but we do not like to share negative things with people… There are disagreements, but there is no divorce.”

In the previous meeting, Al-Shammari had indicated her respect for her husband despite the differences, saying: “Even if there are differences, he remains my husband and the father of my daughters, and I cannot deny the good days we lived.” She also explained that her daughters are not greatly affected by family disputes because their relationship with their father is “rather limited.”
