BRET establishes a $98.4 million factory to produce energy-efficient commercial refrigerators in Bahrain

Bahrain Refrigeration Electromechanical Equipment Technology (BRET) announced the establishment of a $98.4 million factory to produce commercial refrigeration equipment in the Bahrain International Investment Park. This project was announced during the Gulf Gateway Forum 2025, reflecting Bahrain’s growing role as a center for advanced manufacturing in the region.

The new facility, which represents a Chinese investment in Bahrain, will serve as a major regional production center for high-performance, energy-efficient refrigeration systems, specifically designed to suit the climate and needs of the Gulf commercial markets.

BRET General Manager Cao Junfeng commented: “Establishing this factory in Bahrain is an important step in expanding our business in the Middle East and the world. The Kingdom offers a strategic location, modern infrastructure, and a supportive business environment, which is fully consistent with our long-term vision for global growth. Through BRET, we seek to provide advanced, energy-efficient cooling solutions in the region, while contributing to achieving Bahrain’s industrial and environmental goals towards sustainability.”

For his part, Chief Business Development Officer at the Economic Development Board, Ali Al-Mudaifa, said: “We are pleased to welcome BRET to the companies operating in the growing industrial sector in Bahrain. This investment reflects the Kingdom’s position as a preferred destination for advanced value-added technical industries, and also represents the close partnership between Bahrain and major international manufacturers. The presence of BRET will contribute to strengthening regional industrial capabilities, and will enhance innovation in the field of manufacturing.”

The new factory will have a production capacity of up to 300 units per day, including a wide range of commercial refrigerators, display refrigerators and related equipment. Leveraging its advanced R&D and design capabilities, the company aims to provide sustainable cooling solutions to the retail, hospitality, healthcare and food service sectors in the Middle East.

The establishment of BRET in Bahrain reflects the Kingdom’s continued success in attracting global industrial investments based on innovation, efficiency and sustainability, which are essential pillars of Bahrain’s long-term vision for sustainable economic growth.
