Enhancing South Korea’s position with artificial intelligence
Lee wants to allocate 10.1 trillion won (about 7 billion dollars) for a major transformation aimed at pushing South Korea towards the top three positions in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, with the United States and China.
He explained "Of this amount, 2.6 trillion won will be invested in publishing Artificial intelligence in industry, daily life and the public sector, while 7.5 trillion won will be allocated To develop skills and build infrastructure" necessary.
In total, the draft budget for 2026 will reach about 728 trillion won, an increase of 8.1% compared to 2025.
Lee Jae-myung will need a majority of votes in Parliament to approve the draft budget.
