"XRG" and"YBF" and"Eni" Signing a cooperation agreement in a liquefied natural gas project in Argentina

Abu Dhabi, 4 November / WAM / “XRG”, the international investment arm in the energy sector owned by “ADNOC”, today announced the signing of a non-binding framework agreement with the Argentinian “YBF” and the Italian “Eni” companies to study participation in an integrated liquefied natural gas project in Argentina.
This agreement represents an important new step in implementing XRG’s strategy to build a leading global gas portfolio and strengthen its presence across the Americas.
The LNG project in Argentina combines, in an integrated manner, the exploration, development and production of gas from the Vaca Muerta shale basin, and its liquefaction using offshore floating natural gas liquefaction (FLNG) technology.
The project is expected to benefit from the partners’ deep experience in developing floating LNG facilities, including Eni’s track record in Mozambique, where XRG is a partner in the Rovuma Basin project.
The first phase of the project is expected to produce 12 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually, through two floating stations, each with a production capacity of 6 million tons annually.
On this occasion, Mohammed Al-Eryani, Head of the International Gas Platform at “It contributes to creating long-term value for shareholders, partners and communities near our areas of operations.”
This non-binding framework agreement, which was signed during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), follows the recent announcement of XRG’s investments in the Rovuma Basin in Mozambique, the Offshore Zone 1 project in Turkmenistan, Arceus Energy in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Absheron field in Azerbaijan, and the Rio Grande LNG project in the United States of America. This reinforces its ambition to become a leading global company in the gas sector.
