"China International Import"…a historical version of deepening trade ties with the world

Shanghai, 5 November / WAM / The eighth edition of the “China International Import Expo 2025” kicked off today in the Chinese city of Shanghai, which is being held this year under the slogan “A New Era, Broad Participation.”

The event is considered one of the most prominent Chinese exhibitions dedicated to imports, opening the local market to foreign products and services, transforming China’s enormous market potential into real purchasing power, and deepening its trade ties with the world.

This year’s exhibition features a larger exhibition area than previous editions, with a noticeable increase in the number of participants representing more than 155 countries, regions and international organizations, displaying innovative technologies and products, and looking to enter China’s supply chains.

On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, heads the country’s delegation participating in the exhibition.

The UAE is a guest of honor at the exhibition, a clear indication of the depth of relations that have united the two friendly countries for 41 years, during which it was a model of close cooperation in various fields, especially economic and investment.

During the exhibition, the UAE will showcase its digital transformation system, sustainable economy, and technology, within its national pavilion and participating companies.

The UAE’s participation in the exhibition falls within the framework of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two friendly countries, and exploring new opportunities in the fields of technology, clean energy, food security, and logistics services, which is consistent with the UAE’s vision of building a diversified and sustainable economy based on knowledge and innovation.

The relations between the UAE and the People’s Republic of China have always been a unique model of positive, fruitful and constructive cooperation that supports the development visions of the two countries and their efforts to achieve comprehensive development and sustainable economic prosperity.

The economic and investment relations between the UAE and China are witnessing continuous growth, as China is considered the first trading partner of the UAE in its non-oil trade with the world. In return, the UAE is at the forefront as a non-oil trading partner of China in the Middle East and Africa region, and represents a vital gateway for Chinese exports and investments, as about % of China’s total exports to the region pass through it.

The volume of trade exchange between the UAE and China reached $102 billion in 2024, an increase of 7% over the previous year, in a clear indication of the rapid growth of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and their commitment to strengthening the economic partnership between them.

The number of Chinese economic licenses in the UAE reached more than 14.5 thousand licenses, and China is one of the largest sources of foreign direct investment flows to the UAE.

The UAE received more than one million Chinese tourists in 2024, which reflects its status as a preferred destination for the Chinese. Flights between the two countries are also witnessing continuous growth, as there are more than 110 direct flights weekly.

The UAE is committed to developing the strategic partnership with China, supporting the Belt and Road Initiative, and working to raise trade exchange to $200 billion by 2030, with a focus on cooperation in the field of energy to ensure its security and sustainability.

The UAE has been an active partner in the initiative since its launch in 2013, through its development potential, strategic location, and pioneering economic role in the region. The country has pumped about $10 billion into a joint Chinese-Emirati investment fund to support the initiative’s projects in East Africa. It also signed 13 memorandums of understanding with China in 2018 to invest in various fields within the Emirates.

The UAE is regularly keen to participate in the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum with the aim of strengthening the Arab-Chinese strategic partnership relations based on comprehensive cooperation and joint development for a better future, pushing it to broader horizons and achieving more achievements at all levels.

In turn, the UAE-China Business Forum continues its contribution to strengthening cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries, and exploring ways to advance trade and investment relations between the two countries to broader levels, while last April witnessed the holding of the first meeting of the Investment Cooperation Committee between the UAE and the People’s Republic of China, which was held via video communication technology, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both sides.
