المملكة: The women of Wadi Al-Dawasir are converting "Refractory clay" into pieces of art

The activities of the “Formation” program were concluded in Wadi Al-Dawasir Governorate With thermal clay, which was implemented in partnership between the National Development Association in Al-Sharafa and the Social Development Bank, in the presence of the Governor of Wadi Al-Dawasir, Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Masoud, in a qualitative step aimed at empowering Saudi women and promoting craft and creative industries within local development programmes. Their skills and turning them into productive economic opportunities that support sustainability and social development, and are consistent with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which places women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship among its priorities.

Modern methods

The program coincides with the Year of the Craft initiative Manual2025 launched by the Ministry of Culture, with the aim of highlighting the Saudi craft heritage and developing it with modern methods that combine authenticity and creativity, and contribute to enhancing community awareness of the value of handicrafts as a cultural and economic resource.

The Governor of Wadi Al-Dawasir, Fahd Al-Masoud, confirmed that this program reflects the interest of the wise leadership in empowering women and supporting their pioneering projects, praising the professional artistic works presented by the participants during the accompanying exhibition, which demonstrated a high level of skill. And creativity.

Artistic and technical skills

Director of the National Development Association in Al-Sharafa, Dr. Jamaan Abdullah Al Hussein, explained that the program aimed to provide participants with artistic and technical skills in dealing with thermal clay, and to transform hobbies into small productive projects that open new economic horizons for women in the governorate, appreciating the support of the Social Development Bank and the partnership of government and community agencies in making the initiative a success.

At the conclusion of the event, The governor honored the partners and supporters, and toured the accompanying exhibition to view the most prominent artistic products that embodied the trainees’ ingenuity and ability to innovate, amid praise from the audience for the level of organization and quality of the training outputs, which reflected the impact of the initiative in promoting handicrafts and empowering women in Wadi Al-Dawasir.
