"Al-Wasl" Faces "Al-Zawraa Al-Iraqi" In the first leg of the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2

Kuala Lumpur, February 4, 2017 – The Asian Football Confederation announced today the details of the round of 16 matches of the AFC Champions League 2, which begins on February 10, with the participation of 16 teams competing in a home-and-away format.

The Emirati club Al-Wasl will host Al-Zawraa of Iraq on February 10 in Baghdad, in a confrontation during which the Emirati football representative seeks to achieve a positive result that will enhance his chances before the return match. Al-Wasl is making its third appearance in the knockout stages of Asian competitions, and its first since reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian Club Championship in the 1994-1995 season.

The Western Region competitions will also witness a meeting between Iranian Esteghlal and Al-Hussein of Jordan at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, while Arkadagh of Turkmenistan will host its Saudi counterpart Al-Nassr, and Iranian Foolad Sepahan will face the Qatari Al-Ahly team in Doha.

In the East region, Thailand’s Ratchaburi will meet Indonesia’s Persib Bandung, Vietnam’s Kong An Hanoi will host Singapore’s Tampines Rovers, South Korea’s Pohang Steelers will face Japan’s Gamba Osaka, and Thailand’s Bangkok United will meet Australia’s MacArthur.

The draw for the round of 16 was held last December, and determined the path of the teams until the final match, noting that the return matches will be held during the period from February 17 to 19, with the final rounds being completed with the quarter-finals in March, and the semi-finals in April, while the final match will be held on May 16.
