المملكة: Ibn Kadsa: The reconstruction program contributed to unifying Saudi development efforts for Yemen


The Assistant General Supervisor for Institutional Relations, Head of the Communication and International Cooperation Sector, confirmed in Saudi Arabia For Yemen, taking into account the efficiency of planning, implementation and evaluation in implementing its projects, in coordination with the Yemeni government.
This came during his speech in a session "Transformations of the Yemeni scene: politics, security, and opportunities for stability" Within the work of the Saudi Media Forum in its fifth edition, which is hosted by the city of Riyadh.

Directly supporting the Yemeni economy

Ibn Kadsa explained that there are about two million Yemenis in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who transfer about 4 billion dollars to Yemen annually, which directly supports the Yemeni economy, noting at the same time that the Kingdom was the only country that did not stop issuing work visas even in times of conflict or during the Corona pandemic crisis, within the framework of the brotherly relationship between the Kingdom. And Yemen.
He pointed out that the program represents a unique experience of its kind, as it is the first program concerned with providing development and economic support from one country to another, in confirmation of the depth of relations between the Kingdom and Yemen, and the commonalities that unite them, the top of which is the unity of religion, the bonds of Arab brotherhood, and geographical neighbourhood.

Integrated development assistance

Regarding the program’s approach and strategy, Ibn Kadsa explained that the program’s approach embodies a qualitative shift in work. Short-term humanitarian to long-term sustainable development, through integrated development assistance that enhances stability, supports economic recovery, and paves the way for the stabilization phase with Yemeni national leadership and effective international partnerships.
He stressed that the impact of the program extended to playing a positive role in encouraging the international community to shift from immediate relief and aid in Yemen to sustainable development and reconstruction as two important tools for stability, and it succeeded in establishing its presence at the international level to have international leadership for the development and reconstruction of Yemen. Which prompted prestigious international institutions such as the World Bank Group (WBG) to consult the program regarding their strategies related to Yemen.

268 development projects and initiatives

Regarding the most prominent projects and initiatives provided by the program, the Assistant General Supervisor for Institutional Relations at the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen said: "Since its inception, the program has presented 268 development projects and initiatives, some of which have been implemented and some are under implementation. The most prominent achievements of the program are achieving benefit for millions of Yemenis and reflecting the support provided in facilitating movement between cities and regions, expanding the scope of educational opportunities and enabling universities and technical and vocational institutes to perform their role and implement their educational programs, providing health care, prevention and awareness services efficiently and effectively, stimulating sustainable agricultural production and promoting the uses of renewable energy, empowering women and youth economically, and enhancing community participation.".
