المملكة: The Kingdom leads the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa with 16 accredited health cities

The Kingdom continues to lead the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa region in terms of Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajel said that this progress embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to making human health the focus of urban development, and consolidating the principle of prevention, in line with the goals of the Quality of Life and Transformation Programs emanating from Vision 2030.

He explained that this trend is consistent with the priorities of the health system in empowering people to be an active partner in caring for their health, and investing in health technologies and digitization in a way that enhances the system’s efficiency and sustainability, and improves the quality of life and general health of society.
It is a program "Healthy cities" The Kingdom is the first collaborating center with the World Health Organization regionally and the fourth globally, as it works in cooperation with government agencies to reformulate the concept of health into a daily lifestyle. By promoting healthy urban planning, stimulating community participation, and empowering residents to take initiative, cities have become enhanced environments for prevention and mental and physical health together.
Healthy Cities
Accrediting healthy cities requires achieving 80 international standards distributed over 9 main axes, including: community empowerment for health and development, cooperation and partnership. Between sectors, and the community information center, in addition to skills development and capacity building, health services, and the urban environment (water, sanitation, food safety, and air quality), in addition to the emergency preparedness and response standard, education, and support for small projects.
The rapid expansion in the adoption of healthy cities embodies a qualitative shift in urban development, as a sustainable path that enhances prevention, activates the role of society, and consolidates the Kingdom’s leadership in building environments that support health and quality of life.
