The US Aviation Administration announces the reduction of flights at 40 airports due to the closure

US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy is expected to announce a 10% reduction in flight capacity at 40 major airports starting Friday if the government shutdown continues, according to what Reuters reported, citing sources.
On Wednesday, the United States entered the thirty-sixth day of the government shutdown, the longest in the country’s history, after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement to finance the budget. The closure began at the beginning of last October, before surpassing the previous record set in 2019.
As the closure extends, its effects on the daily lives of Americans increase. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees have stopped working, while others are working without pay, waiting for the crisis to be resolved.
Social assistance, especially the food aid program that benefits 42 million Americans, was also delayed, before the federal judiciary ordered it to be maintained.
American airports are exposed to widespread disturbances as a result of the shortage of air traffic controllers, which caused the postponement. Many trips were canceled, while the two sides exchanged accusations about responsibility for the paralysis.
Republicans demand an extension of funding according to current spending levels, while Democrats insist on increasing health support for low-income families.
