Iranian TV: The draft understanding with America releases 12 billion frozen dollars
He said Iranian state television on Saturday said the memorandum of understanding was discussed between Washington and Tehran stipulates the release within 60 days of $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, indicating that it was based on an unofficial version of the text.

The authority said that according to an unofficial version of the text under negotiation, the United States is committed to giving Iran full access to $12 billion of its assets within 60 days, so that these resources can be transferred and spent in banks in the country or countries that Iran wants to be a destination for, without restrictions.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that there will be no exchange of funds until further notice.
Frozen Iranian Assets
The issue of Iranian assets frozen abroad due to US sanctions is one of the main points in the ongoing negotiations to reach an agreement to end the war in the Middle East.
A news agency reported "ISNA" On Thursday, the Iranian newspaper said that Tehran is seeking to secure the release of $24 billion, half of which will be provided as soon as the memorandum of understanding is announced.
Iranian media reports also indicated that the value of the frozen assets abroad ranges between $100 and $123 billion.
The Islamic Republic also demands the establishment of a clear mechanism to ensure the release of other funds, according to what Tasnim Agency quoted a source earlier this week.
Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz
With regard to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran has effectively closed since the beginning of the war on it on February 28, the protocol stipulates, according to the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, that Iran is the sole authority to determine the nature of the ships. In transit, any ship whose cargo is considered a threat or whose ultimate operator is hostile to Iran is not allowed to use the designated routes.
Washington has repeatedly stressed its opposition to Iran’s control of this sea lane.
