"Saudi literature, publishing and translation": "Sharjah International Book Fair" One of the largest exhibitions in the world

Sharjah, November 6 / WAM / The Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority is participating in the “44th” edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which is currently being held at the Sharjah Expo Center and continues until November 16, with a cultural presence that reflects the qualitative development and openness to the world witnessed by the Saudi cultural sector.

Engineer Bassam Al-Bassam, Director General of the General Department of Publishing at the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the Kingdom’s participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair in its 44th edition represents an extension of the long-standing cultural relations between the two countries, pointing out that the Authority was keen in this edition to participate in a way that reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to developing the three sectors, namely literature, publishing and translation.

He explained that participation includes displaying a number of recent publications in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of previous publications and original publications, in addition to the participation of 12 government agencies, professional institutions and publishing houses.

This is part of the Authority’s strategy to participate in the most prominent and largest international exhibitions around the world, of which the Sharjah International Book Fair is one of them.

The Saudi Authority’s pavilion includes a number of national and cultural institutions, including the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, King Abdulaziz University, King Fahd National Library, King Abdulaziz Public Library, King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an, King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, Hafr Al-Batin University, the Saudi Monetary Laboratory, the Arab Observatory for Translation, and the Publishing Society, a diversity that reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to build bridges of cultural communication with the world and expand the horizons of dialogue and knowledge exchange.

During the exhibition days, the Saudi pavilion presents a diverse cultural program that includes literary seminars, dialogue sessions, workshops, and poetry evenings, with the participation of an elite group of Saudi writers and thinkers, in a presence that reflects the richness of Saudi literature and its interaction with the contemporary Arab cultural scene.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 is the thirteenth this year in international book fairs.
