Experts: The UAE has presented a unique model of empowerment " Early education " For childhood

ABU DHABI, 4th June, 2018 (WAM) – The awarding committee for the Khalifa International Prize for Early Education confirmed that the United Arab Emirates has provided a prominent model in creating an integrated system for the concept and principles of early childhood education, based on the care and attention given by the wise leadership to this category, enacting laws and legislation, and launching strategies, executive programs, and initiatives that ensure healthy, cognitive, and social early childhood development.
They pointed out that the UAE, by presenting the field of the Khalifa International Award for Early Education as one of the prominent fields presented in the Khalifa Educational Award, one of the institutions of the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation, is transferring this unique model in early childhood care to various countries of the world, by offering this award in its two categories, the category of programmes, curricula, methodologies and teaching methods, and the category of research and studies.
This came during the annual meeting of the awarding committee in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Humaid Al Hooti, Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award for Education, and members of the awarding committee, which are Professor Stephen Barnett, founding director of the National Institute for Early Education Research at Rutgers University in the United States of America, Chairman of the awarding committee, Professor Iram Siraj, Professor of Child Development and Education at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, Professor Nirmala Rao from the University of Hong Kong, and Professor Jana Fleming, Director of the Early Childhood Development Department at the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation. Dr. Mira Al Kaabi, President of the National Academy for Childhood Development, and the members of the screening committee are Dr. Philip Quirky, former Executive Dean of Education and General Studies at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Dr. Bushra Qaddoura, Strategic Advisor in the field of early childhood education and care at the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Sarah Rogers, CEO of the professional services company Quest Direct, and Dr. Rachel Takriti, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at the United Arab Emirates University.
Humaid Al-Hooti expressed the Award’s pride in the pioneering role and positive humanitarian impact that the Khalifa International Award for Early Education has achieved since its launch, as it succeeded in highlighting the most prominent scientific and applied practices adopted by the most prestigious scientific institutions in the world in child care and providing early education for this category that opens broad horizons for creativity in the future.
He explained that the experts participating in the meeting discussed the future plan for the next session and the associated mechanisms and scientific standards to measure the impact of the winning projects and research from various parts of the world, and to expand awareness of the role of the award and its mission in enhancing qualitative efforts related to the field of early education, in addition to reviewing the proposal to establish a network of winners worldwide in this field under the name “Ambassadors of the Early Education Award,” and supporting the award’s participation in scientific activities related to early education, and directing efforts to the areas most in need, especially in the African continent and the Arab region.
Al-Hooti confirmed that the next session of the Khalifa International Award for Early Education will witness a series of electronic seminars and applied workshops, enhancing digital presence, to ensure ease of communication mechanisms for candidates with the award and the presentation of projects, initiatives and scientific research related to best practices in this field.
