Attack led by “failed” media

The White House responded to the criticism, spread on social media and the websites of many media outlets, regarding pictures of US President Donald Trump, with his eyes closed during his presence in the Oval Office, last week, as the president’s opponents took advantage of the footage to raise questions about Trump’s performance at work.

The White House’s response considered the attack on the president coming from the “failed” liberal media.

Pictures of President Donald Trump with his eyes closed during his presence in the Oval Office last week spread on social media and the websites of many media outlets, as the president’s opponents took advantage of the footage to raise questions about Trump’s performance at work.

For her part, White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said in a statement to CNN: “The president was not asleep. Rather, he spoke the entire time and answered many questions from the press during this announcement, which represents a historic drop in the prices of two medications that help American citizens who suffer from diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other diseases. This announcement from President Trump will save huge sums of money and countless lives for Americans, and yet the failed liberal media insists on promoting a bullshit narrative instead of covering it.”

Trump was participating in an announcement Thursday about lowering the prices of popular weight-loss drugs, speaking from behind his desk alongside other officials. At moments, Trump’s eyes appeared to be closed, and at others he appeared to be struggling to keep them open, occasionally rubbing his eyes.

The photos sparked quick criticism from Trump’s opponents. The press office of California Governor Gavin Newsom, one of the president’s most prominent opponents, published pictures from the event, mocking him, according to a report by the American CNN network.

Trump regularly appears in public and participates in lengthy question-and-answer sessions with reporters. His aides and members of his government praise his strength and stamina, and confirm that they receive phone calls or messages from him around the clock.

The day before Thursday’s event, Trump traveled to Miami to deliver an economic speech that lasted more than an hour, and he also completed a three-country tour in Asia at the end of last month.
