A human rights report documents the intensity of Egyptian turnout at polling stations abroad

The Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development confirmed, in its report issued today, that the voting of Egyptians residing abroad for the governorates of the first phase of the parliamentary elections, which included 14 governorates in which 1,287 candidates competed for individual seats in 70 constituencies, witnessed a clear and tangible public turnout within the Egyptian embassies and consulates spread in 117 countries, through 139 electoral headquarters designated to receive Voters.
The report explained that this large turnout reflects a strong desire among Egyptians abroad to communicate with national affairs and participate in decision-making, despite the fact that voting coincided with working days in most countries, which indicates a high level of awareness and national belonging among Egyptian communities around the world.
The coalition indicated that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs dealt flexibly with voting densities, as it provided additional breaks and designated seats. to voters in a number of embassies, especially in Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Emirates, in addition to increasing the number of polling stations and opening new headquarters in some countries such as Iraq and India, in implementation of the policies of the National Elections Authority aimed at facilitating the electoral process abroad.
The report also monitored the active role played by Egyptian community associations and unions in European countries such as Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, England, and Greece, as well as the United States and Canada. and Australia, in organizing the movements of voters and facilitating their transportation to voting centers, despite the difficult weather conditions in some areas.
The coalition pointed out that a number of candidates for the House of Representatives were present abroad – They numbered 12 candidates – In some countries, such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Canada, they formed a new phenomenon in the electoral scene, as they contributed to motivating communities and encouraging them to participate through direct meetings and electoral awareness campaigns.
The report added that the high competitiveness among candidates for individual seats within electoral districts was reflected in the enthusiasm of voters abroad, especially in light of tribal and family ties, which prompted them to form supportive crowds for the candidates of their original districts, which the coalition considered a positive indicator of High level of political interaction among Egyptian expatriates.
The coalition concluded its report by pointing out the repeated demand of Egyptian communities abroad for the need to consider implementing electronic voting or remote voting methods, to facilitate the participation of voters who face difficulties in reaching embassies or consulates, due to distances or working and weather conditions. This is the same demand that the coalition had previously put forward in previous electoral elections, as an important step towards enhancing the political participation of Egyptians abroad.
