Minister of Finance: Bahrain attaches great importance to developing infrastructure and creating the necessary components to contribute to advancing economic development.

His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, stressed the depth of the deep-rooted historical fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly State of Kuwait, and the development and prosperity they are constantly witnessing in various fields, in light of the care and attention they receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the sisterly State of Kuwait, may God protect them.

His Excellency pointed to the keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, to continue strengthening comprehensive development paths and developing infrastructure, in a way that keeps pace with the requirements of urban and economic growth, and contributes to achieving the desired aspirations and brings goodness and benefit to everyone.

This came during a meeting with His Excellency the Minister of Finance and National Economy, in the presence of His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Chairman of the Electricity and Water Authority, with His Excellency Mr. Walid Shamlan Al-Bahr, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, within the framework of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, to sign a loan agreement to finance the project to develop the 220 and 66 kilovolt electricity transmission network between the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Finance and National Economy praised the keenness of the sister State of Kuwait, through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, to enhance cooperation in the fields of economic and social development.

His Excellency the Minister of Finance and National Economy added that the Kingdom of Bahrain pays great attention to developing infrastructure and creating the necessary components to contribute to advancing economic development, stressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue close cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and to develop economic partnerships in a way that serves common interests and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly countries.

For his part, His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Chairman of the Electricity and Water Authority, confirmed that the signing of this agreement comes within the ongoing efforts to develop and modernize the electricity system in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a way that contributes to achieving the desired development goals. He pointed out that the “Development of the Electricity Transmission Network” project is one of the important strategic projects that contribute to raising the efficiency of the network and enhancing its reliability to meet the needs of growth in demand for electricity, and to support urban and economic development plans in various sectors.

His Excellency expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to economic development, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation with the Fund in a way that embodies the depth of the deep-rooted fraternal relations linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly State of Kuwait.
