Spokesman for the Commission on Human Rights: The colonists burning Palestinian property is hate-inducing

Spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Thameen Al-Khitan, described the burning of Palestinian property in the occupied West Bank by Israeli colonists as “provoking hatred.”

This came during his speech at a weekly press conference for the United Nations office in Geneva, today, Friday.

Al-Khitan said: “The pictures of crowds of masked Israeli colonists carrying out arson attacks In the occupied West Bank, it raises hatred, and reflects a broader pattern of escalating violence against Palestinians.”

He pointed out that many people were injured in settler attacks, including storming a milk factory and burning trucks and homes belonging to Palestinians.

He reported that the escalation of settler violence in the West Bank was accompanied by an increase in demolition operations, confiscation of property, arrests, and restriction of movement by the Israeli occupation forces, in addition to Continued settlement construction and forced displacement.

He added: “Israel’s transfer of a portion of the West Bank’s civilian population to the occupied territories is a war crime.”

He stressed that “the Israeli government’s claim of sovereignty over the West Bank and its annexation of parts of it are inconsistent with international law.”

Al-Khitan said that the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, renewed his emphasis on the need to stop attacks on the Palestinians. and their property and holding those responsible accountable.
