The UAE and Germany are discussing developing economic partnership and cooperation in the areas of the new economy

DUBAI, 18 November / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, held a meeting with Her Excellency Katharina Reiche, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, at Expo City Dubai, with the aim of discussing the development of the economic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Republic of Germany, and strengthening economic and investment cooperation in the fields of the new economy, tourism, entrepreneurship, agriculture, food, transport and technology during the next stage, which supports the sustainability and competitiveness of the two countries’ economies.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq stressed that the UAE and Germany share strong and growing economic relations, which include various vital sectors for the two countries, and embody an advanced model of economic partnership, in light of the vision and support of the wise leadership in the two countries, which has contributed to enhancing growth paths and opening broader horizons for economic integration between the two friendly countries.

He said that this meeting constitutes an important opportunity to expand the horizons of the partnership between the UAE and the German Republic and push it to higher levels of coordination, by enabling the two business communities to access new opportunities and develop channels for exchanging experiences and expertise, especially since the two countries have common development visions and integrated economic and tourism components that support the partnership at the governmental and private levels, and enhance the prospects for company growth and the flow of mutual investments.

He added that the UAE markets witnessed the entry of more than 1,655 new German companies from the beginning of January until the beginning of November 2025, achieving a growth of 20.3% compared to the same period last year. It also attracted 627 new German brands, including 160 local brands and 467 international brands, which reflects the continued growth of the economic activities of the German business community in the country.

The two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and facilitating the access of Emirati and German companies to promising opportunities in priority areas in the two countries’ markets, employing advanced and digital technology and artificial intelligence in economic growth, and the possibility of strengthening partnership in developing and implementing circular economy policies, including smart infrastructure and sustainable transportation, in addition to developing emerging companies and entrepreneurship.

During the meeting, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq reviewed developments in the economic legislative environment in the UAE, which witnessed the issuance and modernization of more than 35 legislation, laws and policies during the past five years, which contributed to diversifying the national economy and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and globally.

His Excellency touched on the incentives and capabilities provided by the UAE markets to entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies, in addition to the vision of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in developing the food economic cluster, which combines agricultural production, food industries, and modern agricultural technology in one system based on cooperation and integration.

In this context, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq called on the German business community to take advantage of the opportunities and capabilities offered by the UAE, the most prominent of which are a vital strategic location linking the east of the world to its west and its north to its south, and an economic legislative environment that allows 100% foreign ownership of companies, and provides flexible and modern laws for the sectors of commercial agencies, family companies, cooperatives, e-commerce and competition, in addition to an advanced business climate that allows more than 2,000 economic activities, and provides tax reductions and residency permits. Long-term zones for investors and businessmen, and free economic zones for establishing businesses.

The two parties touched on the importance of tourism as a focus of cooperation and partnership during the next stage, and discussed ways to enhance travel between the two countries and expand joint tourism programs, in addition to coordination in international events and exchange of experiences in the fields of green and sustainable tourism, in a way that serves the long-term growth of the sector, especially since the UAE received about 165,000 German tourists during the year 2024.
