"G42" Obtains US approval to export advanced artificial intelligence chips

Abu Dhabi, November 20 / WAM / G42 welcomed the White House’s decision to allow the export of advanced semiconductors for artificial intelligence to the group, in a step that represents a qualitative shift from the planning stage to the implementation stage within the artificial intelligence corridor between the UAE and the United States, within the framework of cooperation that reflects the depth of mutual trust and dedicates the common commitment to developing an artificial intelligence infrastructure characterized by reliability and the ability to expand.
This decision contributes to accelerating the implementation of ongoing strategic projects in the UAE, most notably the “Emirates Stargate” project, which is an artificial intelligence computing complex with a capacity of one gigawatt, implemented by “G42” for “OpenAI” in partnership with “Oracle”, “Cisco”, “Nvidia” and “SoftBank Group”.
“Stargate UAE” is part of the broader project, which is the Emirati-American Artificial Intelligence Complex with a capacity of five gigawatts, designed to meet the infrastructure requirements of artificial intelligence and provide computing services while reducing data processing time in the region.
In addition, the decision strengthens cooperation with the most prominent American giants in the field of massive computing and chip manufacturing, including Microsoft, AMD, Qualcomm, Cerebras, and others.
The granting of licenses for these advanced chips is based on a joint operational framework developed through close cooperation between the two sides to enable the safe global spread of American technologies.
The operation of these chips will be subject to the Regulated Technology Environment (RTE), a leading global technology and compliance framework pioneered by G42 and certified in accordance with the guidelines of the US Department of Commerce and Bureau of Industry and Security.
Commenting on this announcement, Ping Xiao, CEO of G42 Group, said: “This announcement represents a crucial moment for us and our partners as we move from the planning stage to the implementation stage. The shared infrastructure model provides a new standard for secure, high-performance computing that meets the needs of both countries. Everything we develop in the UAE, we will continue to match the equivalent in the United States, to maintain consistency and enhance trust at every stage.”
The UAE remains the only country in the region that has begun implementing infrastructure of this size, in accordance with US regulatory frameworks, export controls, and relevant governance protocols.
For his part, His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary-General of the Council for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology, said: “This decision embodies the level of solid trust on which the partnership between the UAE and the United States is based, and highlights the agreement of the two countries on a common strategic vision that makes technology a platform for enhancing stability and economic flexibility and supporting paths of long-term cooperation. The UAE is proud of its constructive role in shaping this future.”
It is worth noting that G42 operates a working artificial intelligence infrastructure that includes three of the best supercomputers listed on the Top 500 list globally, and ranked second and third in the Middle East, in addition to the “Maximus 01” supercomputer, which was recently announced in New York and is ranked twentieth in the world.
G42 Group’s growing infrastructure in the artificial intelligence sector includes a presence in Abu Dhabi, France, and several locations in the United States, including California, Minnesota, Texas, and New York.
