Secretary of the Islamic Affairs Council highlights the role of Sufism in achieving spiritual security
Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Rahim al-Bayoumi delivered – Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs – A pivotal speech at the opening session of the "scientific– “Practical” The International Conference, held in the city of Makhachkala in the Republic of Dagestan, under the title “Serving the Homeland as a Unifying Value in the Islamic Religion,” addressed in his speech the profound role of Islamic Sufism in establishing spiritual security, and its impact on the stability of Muslim and contemporary societies. This came under the patronage and guidance of Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments.
Al-Bayoumi explained that Islamic Sufism is a well-established educational school that contributes to building a balanced human being, creating a sound conscience, and reviving the values of compassion, humility, and service to creation, stressing that the spiritual security achieved by authentic Sufism is the foundation on which the renaissance and stability of societies are based.
He added that Islamic history witnessed nations that flourished when the spirit was stable, souls were refined, and morals were upright.
He explained that Sufism is not just a state of conscience, but rather a profound reform approach that aims to create a reassured, pure-minded person, with high morals, capable of facing the challenges of the times with steadfastness and awareness.
He also emphasized that Sufi education – Based on refining the soul and upgrading the spirit – It has always been a way to revive construction, combat extremism and violence, and achieve intellectual immunity among young people by spreading the values of compassion and service to creation.
He pointed out that the spiritual education embodied in Sufism strengthens social ties and enhances the values of citizenship and belonging, saying: "If the soul is stable, the homeland will be stable with it, and if the heart is stable, then behavior and life will be correct.”
At the conclusion of his speech, the Secretary-General extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Dagestan for his generous sponsorship of the conference and his interest in strengthening scientific and religious cooperation, which reflects his wise vision in supporting stability and consolidating the values of coexistence. He also thanked the Islamic Education and Research Center of the Muftiate of the Republic of Dagestan for the distinguished organization, and the Fund for Supporting Islamic Culture, Science and Education for its support and contributions to the success of the conference activities.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs confirmed that this conference – Under its comprehensive title “Serving the nation as a unified value in the Islamic religion” – It constitutes a solid scientific addition that contributes to consolidating love for the homelands, affirming the value of serving them as a religious and patriotic duty, enhancing societal peace, and consolidating awareness of the spiritual and intellectual role in building humanity and the renaissance of civilization.
