Dubai Ports Authority organizes the first annual conference with maritime sector partners

DUBAI, 23rd November / WAM / The Dubai Ports Authority and the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation organized the first annual conference, on board the historic ship “Queen Elizabeth QE2” in Port Rashid, with the participation of representatives of companies and institutions operating in the maritime sector, with the aim of enhancing communication and discussing the latest technical and operational developments and challenges in maritime services.

The organization of the conference comes within the framework of the Dubai Ports Authority’s keenness to build bridges of communication with its partners in the public and private sectors, and to consolidate the joint cooperation approach that contributes to raising the efficiency of operational operations and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in the emirate’s ports and marine areas.

Captain Ibrahim Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Dubai Ports Authority, said: “The first annual conference of the Dubai Ports Authority is an advanced step towards enhancing integration between the various entities working in the maritime sector, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a global center for trade and maritime logistics services, as the success of our system depends on the effective partnership between all its elements, from service providers to regulatory and operational entities.”

He added that organizing the event aims to enhance the exchange of experiences and activate strategic partnerships, stressing the Dubai Ports Authority’s keenness to present its initiatives supporting sustainable transformation and developing the work system in line with the conference’s goals and future directions.

The session witnessed an open discussion that addressed the most prominent future challenges and opportunities in developing maritime services, in addition to reviewing ways to enhance integration between operating entities to ensure the flexibility and sustainability of the sector.

The participants stressed the importance of continuing to hold such meetings on a regular basis, because of their impact on developing the maritime work environment and enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness as a regional and global center for ports and maritime services. The Dubai Ports Authority thanked the partners and participants, stressing its commitment to continuing to work in accordance with the Dubai government’s vision aimed at achieving global leadership in the maritime and logistics sector.
