Math problems without ambiguity and “implicit derivation” are the most difficult questions

The students of the twelfth grade (general, advanced, and elite) took the end-of-first semester exams in mathematics today, as the examination committees witnessed a state of satisfaction among the masses of students who unanimously agreed that the mathematics problems came without ambiguity, “on paper and electronically.”

Easy and clear
They told “Emirates Today” that the exam was easy, clear, and completely free of complexity or ambiguity, whether in the paper or electronic version, explaining that only two questions were considered the most difficult, most notably the implicit derivation question. A number of students also reported that the electronic test requires additional time to answer the questions in full.

Book decision
In detail: The students, Khaled Muhammad, Samiha Burhan, Siham Ali, and Youssef Marwan, confirmed that all the mathematics exam questions came from the book syllabus in the first semester of the current year, and in the same way as what was included in the approved structure of the Ministry of Education, with a very small number of questions that could be considered outside the structure, but they did not affect the level of the exam in general, explaining that the exam simulates the level of the average student and takes into account the individual differences of the students.

Differences in students’ opinions
Regarding time, the students’ opinions were divided into two groups, as the first affirmed that the allotted time was more than sufficient on paper and electronically, while the second believed that the electronic exam contained many questions that required additional time to answer all the questions.

Two “harder” questions
Despite the ease of the exam, a number of students indicated that there were only two questions that were considered the most difficult, most notably the question of the implicit derivation of the second derivative “y,” as some of them said that it required deeper thinking and additional skills, and others considered it new and unfamiliar, but it remained within acceptable limits.

Clarity and balance
The students’ opinions generally agreed that the mathematics exam was characterized by fairness, clarity, and balance. The students who prepared well through the textbook were able to deal with the questions without significant difficulties. The twelfth grade students in the various tracks are scheduled to take the exam today, Tuesday, in the English language subject.
