The Emirates Libraries participates in the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information Conference in Doha

Sharjah, November 24 / WAM / The Emirates Library and Information Association is participating in the thirty-sixth conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, which is hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, during the period from November 23 to 25.

During the conference, the association highlighted the vital role of libraries in promoting digital empowerment and access to knowledge in the Arab world as part of its efforts to enhance cooperation between the information sector and the education, health, economic and cultural sectors with the aim of supporting comprehensive and sustainable digital practices.

During its sessions, the conference will review the mutual influence between digital justice, global citizenship, and the knowledge economy in the region, and discuss the digital divide related to language and culture, in addition to providing practical recommendations to enhance digital content in the Arabic language, consolidate the principles of digital justice, and support the development of artificial intelligence applications in line with the growing needs of Arab societies.

Fahd Al Mamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Library and Information Association, stressed that the association sought, through participation in this conference, to enhance the role of libraries as centers for overcoming digital illiteracy, achieving understanding between cultures, and supporting the digital empowerment of societies in the Arab world.

He added: “Our participation focuses on strengthening cooperation between the information sector and the education, health, economic and cultural sectors in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable digital practices, providing practical recommendations to enhance digital content in the Arabic language, consolidating the principles of digital justice, and supporting the development of artificial intelligence applications to meet the growing needs of Arab societies.”
