The G5 Leaders Summit discusses enhancing the resilience of the construction sector and global market transformations

Dubai, November 24 / WAM / During the “Big 5 Global Leaders” Summit, construction sector leaders, experts and decision-makers discussed market transformations and how to enhance the flexibility of construction supply chains.
His Excellency Engineer Yousef Abdullah, Assistant Undersecretary for the Federal Infrastructure Projects Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, stressed in the opening speech of the summit, which was held on the sidelines of the activities of the 46th session of the “Big 5 Global” exhibition, which was launched today at the Dubai World Trade Center, that cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential for implementing projects that support economic diversification and enhance national capacity for adaptation.
His Excellency explained that the UAE deals with changes with a realistic vision and a practical approach that focuses on implementation, adopting innovative solutions, investing in available opportunities, and enhancing the readiness of the construction sector by modernizing regulatory frameworks, enabling the use of environmentally friendly building materials, and expanding the scope of employing smart technologies and advanced analyzes in design and project management.
He said: “Through these efforts, we are working to ensure the sector’s readiness for the future and enhance its competitiveness and ability to innovate, thus consolidating the country’s position as a global model in developing smart and sustainable infrastructure.”
He added that the exhibition comes at a pivotal moment as the world moves towards smarter, more flexible cities and an infrastructure more capable of adapting to the challenges of the future. Hence, the importance of this event is evident as it is a global platform that brings together experts, innovators and corporate leaders to review advanced engineering solutions, exchange experiences, and build partnerships that accelerate the adoption of technology at various stages of construction.
Dialogue sessions attended by Issam Hussein, founder and CEO of the Arabian Gulf Steel Industries Company, and Dr. Nicholas Ferentelli, Head of Global Construction Forecasts at Oxford Economics, touched on trends in global steel demand, the shift towards low-carbon production models, and the role of local materials in reducing geopolitical and economic risks.
Angela Bernsteiner, founder of Worth Professional Solutions, reviewed how to shape leadership innovation and multi-generational institutional models, and discussed new approaches to operational efficiency, market concentration, and building strategic partnerships. She noted that the Middle East region is entering a decisive era of industrial innovation.
While high-level representatives from the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure in South Africa, the King Abdullah Financial District, the Italian Trade Agency, and the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi participated in key interventions that focused on diversification and long-term planning.
In a related context, digital geographic data experts discussed at the GeoWorld Summit the regulatory frameworks for geospatial data governance and the necessary standards to ensure the safe and responsible use of data during the next decade, including privacy, accuracy, interoperability, legislative harmonization, and the role of artificial intelligence in improving decision-making.
Engineer Maitha Al Nuaimi, Director of the Geographic Information Systems Center at Dubai Municipality, explained during a session entitled “Unlocking the Potential of Geographic Data: A Governance Framework for the Next Decade” that the goal to be achieved always revolves around improving the quality of life in the emirate while ensuring data security. She stressed that governance should not negatively affect the quality of life, but rather should improve it, whether for employees, residents or visitors.
The first day of the event witnessed the unveiling of a range of new products in the fields of building materials, smart technologies, tools, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and fit-out solutions.
Exhibitors recorded strong interaction from buyers looking for practical solutions that support cost efficiency, sustainability, and accelerate project delivery.
