The Pentagon is investigating a retired US Navy pilot for incitement to violate “unlawful orders”

The Pentagon announced that it is investigating Senator Mark Kelly, a retired US Navy pilot, after showing a video in which he urged troops to disobey “illegal” orders.
A Pentagon statement, published on social media platforms today, Monday, referred to a federal law that allows retirees from the armed forces to be called to active service by decision of the Minister of Defense.
Kelly served in the US Navy as a fighter pilot before becoming an astronaut.
The Pentagon said in its statement that Kelly’s statements in the video violated “the loyalty, morale, or good order and discipline of the Armed Forces,” citing a federal law prohibiting such actions.
The statement added: “A comprehensive review of these allegations has been initiated to determine subsequent actions, which may include being summoned to active duty for a military trial or taking administrative measures.”
In the video posted last Tuesday, Kelly was one of six lawmakers who served in the armed forces or intelligence services and addressed “directly members of the armed forces.”
“You can reject illegal orders,” Kelly told soldiers, and other lawmakers said they needed soldiers to “stand up for our laws…our Constitution.”
